Homage to Vladimir Vladimirovič Mayakovsky
“Oh spider, build your web — a shelter for yourself, a trap for others.
You, maker of such precision and beauty, welcome into your home only lifeless prey, whose bodies you preserve, fusing them with your marvelous construction.
You love to conserve and protect, to wait for the right moment, to create and to destroy, to erect your splendid temple and revel in it as its only survivor.
And yet, you love to display your creation.
And, not least of all, you love to protect yourself.
Spider, have you ever wondered what would happen if one day you became a victim of your own trap?
What would you feel as you slowly die among the threads you so carefully spun from within yourself?
Would you, or would you not, feel remorse?”
